Medical Waste Mailback Kit FAQs

How do MERI Medical Waste Mailback Kits Work?
Do I need to have a PayPal account to place an order in the online store?

No, a PayPal account is not required to purchase from our online store. You can pay either using your PayPal account, or click on the button to pay with either a credit or debit card.

What if I don't have a credit card?

Either a credit or debit card OR a PayPal account is required to purchase from our online store.

What if I am tax exempt?

Email a copy of your tax-exempt certificate to info@meriinc.com. We will inform you via email when you can place your order using your tax i.d. number.

What is your return policy?

All sales are final, per MERI’s refund and return policy.

What can be placed inside the waste containers for disposal?

Sharps and infectious waste can go inside the biohazard containers. Do not place hazardous waste, pharmaceutical waste, free liquid, or heavy metal objects inside the biohazard containers.

Only sealed sharps containers can go inside the 18-gallon or 28-gallon containers (no loose sharps).

In the yellow trace chemotherapy containers, only place gloves, gowns, needles and IV treatment bags with a trace amount of chemo waste. Full bags of chemo and infusion pumps DO NOT go inside of the yellow mailback container.

Allowable items may vary by state. Please consult your state regulations.

Is there a time limit before I have to send back my kit?

You can send back the kit once the container(s) are full. Allowable timeframes for waste storage may vary by state. Please consult your state regulations.

Can you provide documentation showing I have secured MERI as my licensed medical waste destruction company?

Yes. Request this letter in the comments section when placing your online order. We will then send a letter stating that your company has secured MERI as your licensed medical waste destruction company to the email address you provided.

Is postage included in the price of the kit?

Outbound and inbound postage will be added to your order once calculated after entering your shipping address. The exception to this is on the 18-gallon and 28-gallon mailback kits. The outbound and inbound shipping is included in the posted price online for those kits.

Do you ship to Hawaii or Alaska?

Yes. We can ship our kits to Hawaii or Alaska. Please note that these kits are sent and returned via USPS Air Mail and the shipping fees will reflect as such.

If you are ordering an 18-gallon or 28-gallon kit, please contact us at info@meriinc.com before placing your online order to inquire about the additional postage required for shipping these kits to Hawaii or Alaska.

Do you ship to countries outside of the United States?

No, we do not ship kits outside of the U.S.

Will I receive proof of disposal with a mailback kit?

Your kit will ship with a manifest found in the clear outside envelope on the box. Send back a signed copy of the manifest with your full kit and keep one copy for your records. After destruction of the waste, you will receive a final copy of destruction, including the weight of the waste, to the email address you provided when ordering.

Are your kits safe to ship in the mail?

Yes. Our kits contain certified waste collection containers that meet DOT and USPS shipping requirements.

What can I do if I placed an order and haven't yet received it?

You can track your order shipment using the tracking number in the confirmation email sent to the address used when placing the order. Contact us at info@meriinc.com if you need further resolution.

What happens if the carrier was unable to deliver my package?

If a package is returned to us as undeliverable, we will issue a refund minus a 15% restocking fee. We can’t reship orders that were returned to us. If you would still like to purchase the items that were returned to us, you will need to place a new order.

To prevent delivery issues, ensure the shipping information you provide is accurate. Use the tracking number you are sent to communicate with the carrier to avoid missed delivery attempts.

I have misplaced my original shipping box. What do I do?

You will need to purchase a new kit to send back any sharps containers that are missing their original shipping box. The shipping box has the prepaid postage label noting the manifest tracking number, so you will not be able to send back your sharps container(s) without this box. Only our packages are approved to mail through the U.S. Postal Service for shipping back regulated medical waste. We do not sell ’empty’ boxes.

Can I place my own sharps container into a MERI mailback kit?

You can ONLY place your own existing sharps containers into our 18 or 28-gallon biohazard mailback kits.  All of our other sharps mailback kits come with a sharps container(s) that the United States Postal Service approves to be shipped back in the box provided. You can only send back the sharps containers that come with these kits.

How do I get rid of my current full sharps containers using your service?

You can use our larger capacity 18-gallon or 28-gallon mailback kits to send back your existing sharps containers. Place your full containers into the large-capacity container (no loose sharps) and mail the kit back. Be sure the biohazard container you order is large enough to hold the size and number of containers you have, as there are no refunds, returns, or exchanges on any of our kits.
